Tarot Card of the Week - 23/8/26

Tarot Card for the Week commencing Sunday
23rd August 2026
The Four of Wands
Welcome!
Advance notice for next week: I'll publish my Cards for the Month on Tuesday 1st September. These will replace our usual weekend Card of the Week, as I'll be out reading at events on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.
The Story the Tarot Card Is Telling Us This Week
This week we have a Minor Arcana card, so rather than one of the bigger Major Arcana themes, we're looking at everyday energy that helps shape and hold our lives together.
The Four of WandsĀ š„
If we think of the Minor Arcana as a journey from the Ace through to the Ten, I think of the fours as a comforting "stop and think"Ā point along the way. Wands represent what we do: our energy, drive, enthusiasm, ambition and get-up-and-go. They're about what fires us into action and where we're choosing to direct that energy.
So for me, the Four of Wands is asking us to acknowledge what we've achieved so far, take a breath and consider what you'd like to come next.
That could relate to life in general, or perhaps there's a particular project, ambition or situation that immediately springs to mind. (I know exactly what it means for me! š)
Fours also bring an element of stability, which can feel reassuring. We've established something. There's a firm foundation beneath us. But slowing down can sometimes make us uncomfortable - wands need action! So we could mistake a pause for being stuck or feel that we shouldĀ constantly be doing more. (This is me!)
Perhaps that's precisely the point of the Four of Wands.
Once we've started making progress, it's very easy to become carried away by our own momentum and go charging off-piste! This card asks us to pause long enough to check that we're still heading where we actually want to go! You don't have to keep moving simply to prove that you're making progress.
As always, the cards don't tell us what willĀ happen. Instead, they invite us to pause, reflect and ask ourselves the questions that matter.
Questions to Consider
š What have I achieved that I haven't properly stopped to acknowledge?
š Where is most of my energy going at the moment, and is it still taking me in the direction I want to go?
š Am I genuinely stuck, or am I simply at a natural pause before the next stage?
This week's message
Stop. Acknowledge. Then decide where your energy goes next.Ā š„
This is a collective tarot card reading for the month, so take what resonates and leave the rest. For legal reasons in the UK, all readings should be regarded as being for entertainment purposes only.
This week's card was drawn from the recently-published Pixie's Marseille Tarot by Alejandro R Rozan. I created a short video review of the deck which you can see here .
