The Queen of Pentacles
This week we have a Court Card. I always consider the Court Cards as a family along with the Kings, Knights and Pages.
Like the King, the Queen has status, respect and knowledge. But whatever situation we're referring to, whether it's a family, work or social situation I think the difference between these two is that the King is the CEO - he has ultimate power and sees the bigger picture, whereas the Queen is perhaps the Operations Director - knows all the ins and outs of the business itself and has day-to-day knowledge and interest in the people who make it thrive or tick along. She is invested on a much more personal level.
Our Queens often represent ourselves, someone significant in our story, or an energy we may need to embody.
Pentacles represent our physical, practical world, so we’re looking at areas such as money, work, home, possessions and health. For me, they can also represent the established ‘units’ of our lives, such as family, work or friendship groups, rather than the individual people within them.
So for me, the Queen of Pentacles represents a very grounded, practical but informed energy. She’s not necessarily looking for recognition. She’s the person who quietly knows what needs doing, who needs supporting and how to keep everything running smoothly.
Within a spread, it's easier to see her role in a situation. As a standalone card, I’d say she’s asking us to draw upon our own experience, common sense and practical abilities this week. Maybe you’ll be called upon to sort something out, offer sensible guidance or be the steady pair of hands in a situation
And if that doesn’t sound like you, perhaps the Queen represents someone whose matter-of-fact advice you could benefit from. It's not a sign of weakness to ask someone else, who knows more than we do
The Queen of Pentacles brings a reassuringly stable energy. Whether we’re finding that energy within ourselves or seeking it in someone else, the Queen of Pentacles reminds us of the value of experience, common sense and practical support.
As always, the cards don't tell us what will happen. Instead, they invite us to pause, reflect and ask ourselves the questions that matter.
